Get Organized with the Right Wedding Planning Tools

Wednesday, November 18th, 2015
You’re engaged! By now you have likely made your big announcement to your friends and family. You have browsed wedding dress catalogs and daydreamed about your romantic reception at that majestic hillside vineyard in Napa. Maybe you have even toyed around with the bridal party list and picked out your perfect maids. And then all of a sudden your mother-in-law-to-be starts asking you if you have picked a caterer, or florist, or cake topper, or DJ, or even a date.… And you are probably sitting there, stopped in your whimsical tracks like, “Wait, what?” Happy stressed bride
Well, my dear, now the fun begins. It’s time to start planning the big day and there is much to do— but don’t fret, you have everything you need to get started sitting at the end of your French manicure.

Online Is the New “Ask a Friend”

Instead of calling all of your friends and family to ask who they recommend, you will likely find that your favorite search engines will yield much quicker and honest results.

Local sites like Angie’s List and Yelp will give you quick feedback on vendors’ customer service, efficiency, and professionalism overall.

Helpful online sites include The Knot, which actually lets you see vendors that other brides near you have utilized. An extra bonus is that they give you an honest vendor review.

Save Your Time and Money

A great perk of surfing vendors online is access to their websites which generally include pictures of their work and pricing options. If you have a strict budget you can quickly eliminate vendors based on their price page.

Also, if you are looking for a specific style of cake or flower arrangement, you can browse through their pictures on your coffee break and see if anything catches your attention. This way you are only setting appointments with vendors you know you like and can afford.

Organizing Your Prospects

This is the time that you need to really focus on getting organized, and having the right wedding planning tools will make all of the difference.

If you find multiple vendors that meet your criteria, and are having trouble choosing, you may benefit from a list of pros and cons. Making a list with each vendor’s info, including contact details, pricing quotes, payment options, availability and time lines is a great way to start organizing your options.

All of these details can be easily tracked on our planning tools page which provides you with a virtual wedding planner to keep all of your vendors organized, and make notes along the way.

The next step is contacting and preparing to interview your potential vendors. Make a note of their customer service over the phone and their willingness to accommodate your schedule. You can tell a lot about a company based on how they treat you before they have your money in their hand. Trust your first impression instincts to help you decide if a face to face interview is even warranted.

Rain Is Good Luck

People say it is a sign of good luck if it rains on your wedding day … but letting your tears pour every moment you plan your big day, as you stress over every detail, is not a good thing! Planning your wedding, no matter if it’s big or small, should be fun and fulfilling. Don’t get overwhelmed and miss out on this special time in your life! Instead, grab some herbal tea, put on some soft music, throw on your favorite slippers, and settle into the couch with your tablet as you browse the web for your dream dress.

And just for fun, leave us a comment and tell us where you are as you plan your big day (your favorite coffee shop, your desk at work, the airport, in a taxi….) We can’t wait to hear from you!
